The crash occurred on August 5, 2025, at the intersection of State Route 38 and Main Street. The young woman was traveling eastbound on State Route 38 and proceeding through the intersection when a westbound box truck carrying a water tank attempted to make a left turn across her path.
The truck struck the front of her vehicle, bringing it to an immediate stop. Witnesses reported that both vehicles entered the intersection while the traffic signal was yellow. Following its investigation, police issued a citation to the truck driver.
The impact left the young woman trapped inside her vehicle and required emergency crews to extricate her. She was then airlifted from the scene for emergency medical treatment.
Her injuries included a subdural hematoma, subarachnoid hemorrhage, open frontal temporal skull fracture with pneumocephalus, orbital floor and roof fractures, zygomaticomaxillary fracture, temporal bone fracture, frontal lobe contusions, hemotympanum, a tibial hematoma, and an axonal shear injury associated with traumatic brain injury.
After months of treatment and rehabilitation, she made a near-full physical recovery. She continues to experience some cognitive deficits related to the traumatic brain injury and hopes to return to college.
Strong Law Offices filed suit on her behalf and obtained the available policy limits shortly thereafter. The corporate defendant's insurer paid its $3 million policy limit, and the driver's personal insurer paid an additional $25,000 policy limit, resulting in a total recovery of $3.025 million.
